As an Admissions Counselor at Heritage University, not only do I serve the university, I serve the community as well. My role as an admissions counselor is not to recruit a student as another number for the university, but instead focus on educating students about the admissions process and the transition from high school to higher education. Although, the main goal for the university is to recruit students, it’s not the increase of students to the university that most concerns me. Assisting first generation students who do not have a parent or sibling to assist with their college planning is by far the greatest satisfaction and a priority to me. I am more than a recruiter, I am an admissions counselor. My goal is not to recruit a student but to educate them to be successful students. At the end of the day I contribute to Heritage University’s mission of promoting higher education to those who have been underrepresented. At the same time students receive quality service and will forever know how important they were to Heritage University.
Heritage University’s Admissions department along with the support of student life, the offices of advising and financial aid, will welcome the upcoming class of 2015 for the first ever “Eagle Welcome Day.” Students will not only receive valuable information, but also a day full of exciting activities that will make them feel right at home and part of the Heritage family.
