What was your path to Heritage?

It's funny to think that we fall under this impression that have so much control over our lives. We do, yet at the same time we don't. Our decisions are purely of free will, however our decisions are largely influenced by our situations, often times situations that we have little to no control over. Situations where you have to evaluate what opportunities you have and what the future holds. Before graduation, my future was headed directly towards George Fox University. I was so sure of it! I knew exactly where my life was taking me that it was practically written in stone... or so I thought. Engineering was unheard of at Heritage. What would I be doing at a school that did not offer what I was pursuing? I was offered a $20,000 annual scholarship to attend George Fox, an undergraduate school with an excellent engineering program. But there was something missing... On paper, George Fox was my best bet. I would be moving far away, immersing myself into new environment, just as planned. But for some strange reason, I could never get over the fact that I did not feel welcomed, at least not to the extent that I wished to be. To this day I am still not sure what it was that pushed me away from George Fox, but if there is one thing I do know it is that I felt at home at Heritage. What was I to do? Deciding between both schools was an extremely difficult choice. When the time was of the essence and I had to make my decision, I was informed that Heritage would be offering the Pre-Engineering program that would take effect in the same year that I would be entering college. If it had not been for such a coincidence, I would have never been here in the first place. I still look back at the series of events that played such an important role in the deciding factor between Heritage University and George Fox, but I am truly content with my decision to become an Eagle. Heritage has become my home, and I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for those to come.
