I am happy to report that the 2017 AISES (American Indian Science and Engineering Society) National Conference went very well for Heritage STEM students. Corbin Schuster, Biomed major and advisee of Dr. Kao, won 2nd place in the highly competitive Undergraduate Student Poster Competition. In addition, Daylen Isaac (HU Environmental Science graduate now at WSU pursuing a MS) was awarded and Honorable Mention for the Graduate Student Poster Competition. We had a total of 6 students from Heritage University present their research and all felt very positive about their experience.

We have won awards for 3 of the last 4 years at AISES. For an institution of our size, we are unique in the success our students have had. Corbin’s 2nd place award is the highest placement any of our students have achieved and certainly helps to raise our profile.
